You are here: Home > Home > Internships Internship OpportunitiesAll internships have a requirement of 120 hours over a period of 12-15 weeks, or between 10 to 15 hours a week on site work over a period of about 3 months. Internships are non-paid. The required time commitment allows for students to be eligible for a class credit internship at most universities/colleges.
Volunteers interested in gaining experience in historical research, museum collections, and non-profit marketing are welcome year round with a reduced time commitment.
Research InternshipThe Curatorial Assistant works in the William Paca House museum and assists the Curator in collections management, historic research or eighteenth-century material culture research. The Collection Management Intern contacts lenders, processes loans and develops an automated inventory database for specific objects in the museum collection. The General History Intern conducts research on the town of Annapolis in the eighteenth and nineteenth century for upcoming exhibitions and educational programs. The Material Culture Research Intern conducts primary and secondary research on collection objects, including furniture, textiles, silver and porcelain. Marketing InternshipThe Public Relations and Marketing Intern works with the Vice President of Advancement at Historic Annapolis headquarters, Shiplap House, located at 18 Pinkney Street in downtown Annapolis. The purpose of public relations is to make certain that the public knows about Historic Annapolis’s outstanding legacy of education and preservation while also keeping the public informed about HA’s current public programs, education programs, and special events. Intern duties include writing press releases, taking photographs, and assisting in digital advertising. Interns also provide general assistance, including updating media lists, distributing posters and brochures, and clipping and posting articles.
